INTEL DIGITAL INDIA VISION AND E-GOVERNANCE

Intel Digital India
¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪¸¸

The other day, after a long time, I was travelling by a public bus. Taking out the money, I held out my hand casually to the bus-conductor to get my ticket. To my surprise, he didn't have the bunch of colourful tickets bus-conductors usually carried where from they'd out pull one and punch a hole in it, manually. Infact, he didn't carry tickets at all. Instead, he had an electronic box, where he punched something, and from the paper-roll installed inside it, came out my ticket. It was a digital ticket. I took it with my mouth somewhat gaped-open. Once I reached home, I saw the courier guy arrive carrying a parcel, that I had ordered from my favourite e-commerce site. He didn't push any paper under my nose for me to sign, as I expected. Instead, he took out a box and asked me to sign 'digitally' on it. I was amazed to say the least. I've been observing things going rapidly 'digital' of late, and it had reached our bus-tickets and courier-signatures too ( not just important stuff like land-records/taxes/bills ( phone/electric ) or services like railways/airlines/banks/hospitals/shopping etc ). While in urban places, it has become our way-of-life, with almost everything 'digital', further away from the city ~ is however a different story altogether. But one, that promises to change fast ~ courtesy, our PM's very ambitious Digital India Vision, which Intel India has partnered with.

For the laymen, in simple terms : e-governance would mean ~ Government ruling the masses electronically, with the optimum use of Information Technology; which further means any services that a government provides to citizen ( i.e customer ), to employees, govt to government or to businesses - all these on a Pan-India level is a mammoth and very complex task, that'll require the best of equipment, infrastructure, process re-engineering and change management. Here comes Intel®, that'll power up those processors ( mainly computers ), hardware & software, data storages, network etc, to provide super-efficiency, fast and convenience in the services rendered. This task is so giant, considering the size of India both in terms of land-mass as well as the size of population, most of which are still so disconnected ( over 70% living in remote places ), even in this global age, and to make things affordable & easily accessible to all. Intel had recently launched its ambitious project "Digital Skills for India", with the Govt ( costing a whopping Rs.1 lakh crores ), to make over 1000 Panchayats digitally literate, after which the impact will be much higher empowering millions across the country, with an ultimate robust aim to connect all villages by 2018-19. The 'Digital Skills Training Application', available free on Android Play store, is part of the project that includes various modules such as Digital Literacy, Healthcare/Cleanliness and Financial Inclusion in 5 different Indian languages ( with its offline version in 7 languages ). Intel has already been engaging in various programmes successfully for last few decades.

For this, there's been tie ups with BBNL ( Bharat Broadband Network Limited ) under the NOFN ( National Optic Fiber Network ) roll-out - thus, Government and Corporate are both working together to create a sustainable model for education in digital sector.

Meanwhile, a conversation somewhere in rural India...
Why Intel?

For both small ( individual level ) and big ( govt or business enterprise level ), Intel® offers various computing solutions like ~ Big Data Analytics, Cloud Computing, Data Center Optimization, Enterprise Mobility, and Better way to work ensuring more Productivity with a complete Wireless Innovation Technology. It provides best of Processors ( Xeon® Processor D, Core™ vPro™, Real Sense™ Technology ), Servers, Work-Stations, Storage besides other essential computer related products like Motherboards, Chipsets, Server Products, Ethernet, Wireless, Consumer Electronics, Solid-State Drives etc - all contributing in building up a massive and stable technology infrastructure required, to deliver the Dream Vision of #DigitalIndia into a reality.

Why I like the Digital India Vision Concept?

  • With Digital, 100 Smart Cities Across The Country - you had heard smart phones? Time has come for smart-cities now! With the most sophisticated infrastructure laid in all aspects ( be it availing govt funds, transport, traffic, healthcare, education, housing and communities, miscellaneous services & amenities like electricity/LPG/water/waste disposal, disaster management etc ) and all fully digitalized too; these along with its satellite townships will bring along with it the 1000 Digitally literate villages too ~ thus, changing the whole country; bringing it at par with the most advanced of nations.

  • With Digital, No More Standing In Queues Anymore - with everything digital, all my information ( i.e important certificates like birth, ssc/hsc, other imp documents, passport etc ) will be in a safe and secure digital folder ( powered by Intel ), which the Govt officials can access and verify. Thus, for every service I apply, I don't have to physically wait in long queues, outside government offices anymore. Same applies in case of customer grievances too, where one can go do so in a hassle-free manner.

  • With Digital, Faster, Affordable & More Convenience - with everything online, things can be done smoothly and at a fast pace. For the Govt too, they can process the work in bulk, rather than at snail-pace as it happens when done manually. And when things are done in Pan-India scale, there'll be the cost factor that'll be definitely looked into as well, keeping things affordable for the masses.

  • With Digital, More Accountabilty - in today's vibrant age of social media, we have already seen how things go viral, within seconds. Thus, with today's youth being more politically savvy ( thanks to mediums like twitter ;-), Govt with implementation of e-governance will have no option but to be more accountable to the masses. And with technology applied in every aspect, there'll be no room for error.

  • With Digital, No More Bribes - isn't that the best? We normally give bribes to fasten up the process, but with things 'Digital' the faster-process is already in place. The immense work-load that falls upon a person working manually, often tempts him to demand bribe; but with digital taking over, work-load too will lessen tremendously.

  • With Digital, Empowerment - small scale businesses, enterprises and industry like cottage/handicraft/manufacturing etc too can boom big-time, what with their craft and produces getting more exposure via the digital route. And with the Skills and Innovations programmes, special focus can be laid on developing those.

  • With Digital, Robust Connectivity - integral to digitalization is connectivity - via special hi-speed routers, mobile-towers, fibre-optics or even wireless connections laid in all corners, covering the whole country in a digital web - nothing like it when a villager in remote Arunachal hill can do business real-time with someone sitting in Thar desert and many more such examples, which can very well become a reality soon.

  • With Digital, Job Opportunities - with such a massive project at hand, imagine the innumerable job opportunities that'll be created. not just during the initial phase of laying out the whole digital set-up in place, but running it smoothly too later on and for the long-time period it is being planned for. As such, those smart IT pass-outs who are forever on the hunt to find job overseas, causing a massive brain-drain, will instead concentrate and contribute in building up the nation instead.

  • With citizen centricity, service orientation and transparency being the core components of e-Governance, the Government has already undertaken large amount of initiatives by both Central, State, Local District and some at integrated-service level too. All these are with sustained efforts implemented, at multiple levels, in order to simplify the process of accessing them as well as improving the delivery of public services. And in order to speed up the process and reach even the most remotest of localities, a greater strategy and vision is required between Government, Citizens and importantly Corporate entities like Intel, that acts as the connector and guide of sorts. Its performance is most vital, in running of the show called Digital India efficiently, without any hiccups; safeguarding it too ( security being a crucial part of it ). e-Governance had started way back in 2006 itself, but need of the hour is to increase its momentum, which the current Government promises to fulfill - with a vision to see whole of India connected by 2018-19. So, lets all warmly welcome the Intel Powered New Digital India! A new-age India :-)

    THAT STORMY NIGHT

Old Bank Street, Manchester, UK by R.A.D. Stainforth

He asked me to work late,
    I resisted,
The work-load that kept piling on,
    I desisted.
Been years now, behind my old desk,
I've been working like a slave,
While he reaped benefits of my hard work,
Myself, never even received an increase in stipend.
    Well, enough is enough now,
    I want to be free,
    Chucking this monotonous job,
I run to the streets, in glee.
    It was raining hard,
Just a handful out on the pebbled streets,
    I didn't care, no really I didn't,
    Cos' that stormy night,
I found a sense of calm within.

    ENGULF

As the chilly wind blew, Martha had a hunch that the glorious day was coming to an abrupt-end; she looked at others, who were enjoying their regular brunch.

“Comon Martha, party’s not started yet; hang on, and enjoy with us,” her friends asked her to stay on.

One look at the skies, and Martha felt uneasy; she urged the others to head home too, fast.

“Don’t be silly Martha,” came their stubborn reply instead.

Petite Martha, listened to her heart; but when from a little distance she looked back, she saw raging flames engulf her friends; the wind had turned ferocious.

FAR EAST HOSPITALITY - TAKEAWAY LEVEL : SINGAPORE

    TAKEAWAY LEVEL : SINGAPORE
    ¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪¸¸

    GROAN... GROAN...
The sound came slowly, echoing around the huge Castle...making everyone's hair stand on their neck!

    GRRRROWL... GRRRROWLLL...
The noise grew louder, sending shivers down everyone's spines and vibrating every inch of the indomitable Castle!

    GRRRRRRRRRR.... GRRRRRRRRRRRRR.....
Everyone knew, there was no escaping the wrath now...its back once again! They all ran helter-skelter...in one direction - towards the kitchen!

    ¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪¸¸

The Princess was hungry! The Princess was hungry! Hushed whispers floated around the Castle's long corridors. It was that time of the year again, when the Princess's hunger rose to unproportional heights. A hunger so extreme, that everyone was assigned to only one job i.e please her Highness's taste-buds, tummy and satisfy her massive appetite for food, food and more food! Nobody loved food as much as the Princess did. Everyone knew very well the consequences too, if they failed in this most important job, in the whole Kingdom. And satisfying the Princess was the hardest task in their entire lifetime. No stone was left unturned for this sole purpose of their existence...

Special cooks, chefs, maharaj-bawarchis you-name-it-all, were flown in from all corners of the kingdom and even the neighbouring ones, in order to satisfy the Princess's enormous gastronomical demands. They couldn't effort to fail in impressing her as hell hath no fury than a hungry Princess's hunger scorned.

The cook's knees shivered at the very thought of some previous failures. BOOM! BAM BAM! BANG! CRASH! SMASH! SPLASH! TONG! SPLUTTER! WHOOSH! SLAP SLAP SLAP! All these myriad sound-effects, as though played in an amplified loud-speaker echoed the grounds. Crashing and Smashing of utensils everywhere, as the angry Princess would throw the food away ~ throwing a tantrum so huge, that would shake the Castle at its very foundation. Their 'cheeks' still ached-red from the 'slaps' that accompanied, for having the audacity to prepare food that didn't impress the Princess at all. The cooks nervously whispered amongst themselves, if this time they'd meet the same fate as well. They all agreed, they must do something real fast. A solution was sought at the earliest. 'Singapore...Singapore...' they nodding their heads together.

    GROAN... GROAN...
The warning sound came again, and they knew they couldn't afford to loose a single moment and rushed to the King in panic!

What S-I-N-G-A-P-O-R-E? The King thundered. Inside, he was quite nervous too; the cooks mustn't fail at any cost else the Princess will turn his Kingdom upside-down once again, like last time, in her unsatiable hunger for food.

Because ( they all chorused together ), only Singapore has this.... the Pratas...

    TAKEAWAY LEVEL : SINGAPORE
    has this....kingsize breakfasts...

    TAKEAWAY LEVEL : SINGAPORE

    TAKEAWAY LEVEL : SINGAPORE
Finally, after being introduced to Takeaway Level : Singapore, all the Princess ever did was a Happy BURP! BURP! BURP! and everyone else sighed a huge relief....
Takeaway Level Singapore; courtesy Far East Hospitality, saved their lives!

    Sang the Princess everyday.....

#CHOOSETOSTART YOUR SMARTPHONE JOURNEY WITH NEW MOTO E

    NEW MOTO E
    ¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪¸¸

When IB announced its latest campaign with MOTO E, these words that said, "We all remember our first bicycle ride, first vacation, first sleepover and so on. Our firsts are always something we will remember no matter what, so why not our first smartphone experience?", had me instantly on a nostalgic trip. I couldn't help but remember my own first mobile phone, my very first-love and the romantic journey I had with it, that started with guess-guess?? Yeah right, Motorola itself.

Yes, the year was 2001, the then newly launched Motorola M3888 ( metallic blue model ), landed in my hands. It was around 5.5k then, a whopping luxury of sorts, of that era. It meant the whole world to me. I absolutely treasured it. I slept, breathed and spent every moment with it. It had most limited of features & functions, but for me it was my connection to the world. It was My Universe. I'm not very tech-savvy, so for a long time while the rest of the world was evolving at break-neck speed, I stayed loyal with my old mobile; it was my life-partner after-all. I called it lovingly My MOTO! Till today, it occupies a very special place in my heart, home and hands. Ah..it stopped working a while back, but I've not thrown it away. I've kept it as a souvenir of sorts a precious antique piece. My first crush, how could I ever let it go. I still hope, it'll come alive once again and we'll be together. Just see how we used to sing romantic duets together, not so long ago ;-) Till today, every night before sleeping, it's in my mind :-)

    NEW MOTO E
    Hum Bane, Tum Bane...
    Ek Dujhe Ke liye...
We are made for each other....
    Seven lifetimes and more...
    Well, until......
    NEW MOTO E
    NEW MOTO E
    NEW MOTO E
    NEW MOTO E
    NEW MOTO E
    NEW MOTO E
    NEW MOTO E
And thus, I decided to #ChooseToStart my first ever SmartPhone journey with the all new Moto E and we lived happily ever after, singing ~
Hum Tum Ek Kamre Mei Bandh Ho,
    Aur Chabi Kho Jaye...

KELLOGGS WALE GUPTA JI KA NASHTA

KELLOGGS WALE GUPTA JI KA NASHTA
    ¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪¸¸

I’ve been living away from my family, independently, for many years now. While it’s been an absolutely thrilling journey till date, with so many things learnt so far; so many unique experiences and first-times I’ve had, I do miss my family a lot. There are times I simple want to leave everything and go back home. Especially, when I remember my mother’s home-cooked meals and the pampering I get! It’s been quite a while since I’ve tasted it. There’s always something about having meals together with family. And that’s what I miss about living independently the most. There’s one more reason to it, though. I’m absolutely a horrible cook. While I’m a total foodie, who loves to eat, eat and only eat; I’m quite the opposite when it comes to cooking. And Indian meals are so elaborate and laborious; they scare the hell out of me. Even the tiniest mistake can make a dish go terribly wrong. I have a hard time simply whipping up a proper meal. And even if I do, I lose my hunger in all the ‘mehnat’ that I’ve had to do over it. That’s why many times I prefer to go hungry, rather than entering my kitchen. Its literally the enemy territory for me :| The very thought of preparing an Indian meal esp breakfast, makes me sweat cold. Only my neighbourhood’s regular home-delivery is keeping me alive somehow so-far. I’m totally reliant on it ;-)

However, spending everyday on outside food is making a huge dent in my pocket too, not to mention it is having a negative effect on my overall health. How I wished there were simple recipes that I could prepare easily, without having to slog away in the kitchen, like a slave. And that’s my friend, when I got a glimpse into Guptaji’s house that had me really thinking. I couldn’t believe my eyes at first. But all the neat preparation details given, left me with no other option, but to believe. They are really so easy to prepare and very healthy too. With over 100 options to choose from, can you believe that? There is an easy meal preparable for almost every occasion ( morning, day or evening ), using the primary and very convenient ingredient of Kellogg's Cereal Cornflakes. So, I'm sure you are wondering who is Guptaji! Well folks, he is Kellogg's Wale Gupta ji, who has some really mouth-watering 'nashtas' up his sleeves.

So, let’s see what all recipes Kelloggs Wale Gupta ji Ka Nashta contains ( something that’s tempting me so much to land up at his place everyday ) : Passing the Parcel Wala Nashta with Sitaphal Pulp and Walnuts ( to charge up for the day ahead with an energizing bowl ); Jagah Banane Wala ka Nashta with yummy Strawberries and Bananas ( another breakfast option to kickstart the day ); Best Tiffin Wala Nashta with cornflakes mixed in Coconut Ladoos, Nuts, Milk and Ghee ( a lip smacking treat it is ); Nakhare Wala Nashta made with wholesome Chappati Powder ( for that delightful crunchy evening snack ); Best Family Wala Nashta with goodness of Apple and Cinnamon; Movie Wala Nashta with Popcorn Clusters ( best movie time delights ); HomeWork Wala Nashta with Shredded Cabbage, Grapes, Basil; First Crush Wala Nashta with Chocolate and Walnuts ( best of temptations and a piece of heaven itself); Chup Karane Wala Nashta with Honey, Almonds and Hazel Nuts ( yes, use your tongue and mouth just for tasting and eating, and not waste time talking, eh ;-).

My my…with so many recipes and more of them ( check out their FB page ), I’m so relieved that cooking will not be a chore for me anymore. So, Gupta Ji, Nashte pe kab Bula Rahe Ho Hume? Ah...or should it be ~ Nashte Pe Kab Aa Rahe Ho Aap Sabhi ;-)

    THE CALL OF THE WOODS

    As the birds outside chirped,
she looked out of the window,
    The dark green woods beckoned,
urging her not to delay more...

    A human she, never,
    understood the strange attraction,
Why merely a glimpse of those trees,
made her feel, that weird connection....

Why were they so familiar to her,
Why they always, called out to her....

    That night as she lay
    on her bed, to sleep,
    Came a dream so real,
    that made her go weak...

    Wails and screams, she heard,
    of her own family,
Before being cursed by the witch,
    that turned them, into trees...

The next morning, as she strolled by,
    she took a deeper walk,
Letting the curse engulf her too,
    her family, she joined.

COCA COLA INTERNATIONAL DAY OF HAPPINESS

COCA COLA INTERNATIONAL DAY OF HAPPINESS
    ¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪¸¸.•*¨*•♫♪¸¸

A smile is perhaps the best cure to some of our biggest worries. And we smile the most, when we are happy. So, undoubtedly ‘happiness’ is what we all seek. Most of our life is spent in the pursuit of happiness. While some find happiness in luxury and expensive things they can afford, there are others who feel happy and content with smallest of things. Perhaps, I fall in the latter type of people. I don’t run or chase huge materialistic goals. And ever since, I’ve realized how temporary our lives really are – I am happy simply with the fact that I’m alive. Yes, it’s that simple. I feel so lucky, just to be around, in this world for this short while. I am happy simply gazing in wonder, at the amazing things that the ‘Creator’ has bestowed upon us.

I also find happiness when all those near and dear ones around me, are happy and smiling. Oh yes, my closest ones means the whole world to me. Seeing them around is so re-assuring and that definitely makes me feel most happiest. I remember when my little nephew was born, I felt as though I had given birth to him myself – I felt so much joy and happiness then. I saw him growing up from a little bundle, and seeing those tiny movements of his would make me ( and all of us ) so happy. And know what, he was happy to see the new world around him too, for he’d gurgle and giggle happily the whole time - filling our lives with so much more happiness.

Those who know me would know, how addicted I am to one particular ‘black’ soft-beverage, especially the ‘burp’ it gives. When it teases my parched lips slightly and trickles down my dry-throat in the fiercely hot summers, it gives me happiness beyond compare. It is my ultimate happiness-bottle. So, one day as usual, I was greedily gushing down the entire bottle by myself. From a corner of my eye, I saw my little nephew looking up at me curiously. My sister saw his gaping eyes too, so, in her newly-found motherly ways taught him proudly what the bottle was. “Coca-Cola, see your mousi ( aunty ) is having Coca-Cola”, she said.

His curiosity naturally grew more and the next instant he started throwing a fit. He wanted my bottle. Within moments, he was nearly jumping off her lap and trying to grab my bottle, uttering the words, “coca coca” ( he forgot the ‘cola’ part ). Those were few of the very first words, he ever uttered. “Coca coca... coca coca”, he kept yelling, almost demanding to hand over the bottle to him. He wasn’t even a year old then, so giving him any of the drink was out of question. But unable to control his hysteria, in order to stop him from crying out big-time, my sister suggested me to give a few drops of it in the bottle's plastic cap. Reluctantly, I poured out the bit, just enough to fill the cap and gave. I hate parting even with a single drop of my favourite beverage :|
The moment my tiny nephew sipped the black liquid from the bottle cap, he gave a very happy and satisfied grin. “Coca Coca,” he said again, this time happily; wanting more! Although, I was immensely happy, seeing him happy and calm down, I didn’t want to part anymore of my happiness-bottle and scooted off from the room. But whenever my nephew saw me next ( with or without my happiness-bottle ), he’d start doing a “coca coca”. The eager, expectant look on his face was quite something, it made me smile.
Ah, recollecting these memories of those happy days gone by, now that my little nephew is almost a teenager, surely makes me happy all over again :-)
